About Sustainable Springfield Inc.

University of Illinois Solar Demonstration House, the topic of one our public presentations

The proposed wind farms for Sangamon County also were a topic for one of our public presentations.

We have had several present- ations about the importance of recycling in Springfield and Sangamon County.

Among the Practices We Encourage Are:

  • the recycling and the reuse of recycled materials
  • the promotion of energy conservation
  • the development of alternative energy sources
  • the promotion water conservation
  • the use sustainable building materials and products
  • the use of public transportation

Sustainable Springfield Inc. holds regular public meetings, hosts workshops and seminars and maintains this website and blog.

We are an information sharing network and closley ally our organization with other environmental groups in Springfield to promote their activities as well as our own.

Our public meetings are open to the public without charge and have included guest presenters form Chicago, Normal, Mattoon, Champaign and Decatur, as well as Michigan.

We are a 501 (C)(3) not-for -profit organization.
